Upon your arrival in Marrakech, our representative will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer to your hotel or riad. Your journey begins with a guided sightseeing tour of Marrakech, Morocco’s vibrant “Red City” and its tourism capital. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll explore the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, the stunning Bahia Palace, the serene Majorelle Garden, and the historic Medina. You’ll then wander through the narrow streets of the bustling souks, eventually arriving at Jamaa El-Fna Square, the iconic heart of Marrakech’s old quarter. Here, you’ll encounter a lively atmosphere filled with storytellers, magicians, food vendors, and snake charmers. You’ll spend the night in a comfortable hotel or riad.
The following morning of our week-long tour in Morocco, we will depart from Marrakech around 08:00 am and head toward the High Atlas Mountains. The road winds through lush valleys and traditional Berber villages, leading us to Tizi N’Tichka, the highest pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters. We’ll take a brief stop to capture some stunning panoramic views and snapshots of the surrounding Berber settlements.
Next, we’ll continue our journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, a famous location for international filmmakers. This historic kasbah was once a crucial fortress along the old Salt Road, where caravans traded valuable goods such as gold, slaves, ivory, and salt between distant lands and Moroccan cities.
Our 7-day tour from Marrakech proceeds to Ouarzazate, a city known as the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its numerous film studios. As we head southeast towards the area known for its thousand kasbahs, the landscape transitions through Berber villages and towns, eventually bringing us to the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night. This exciting day of your desert tour begins with breakfast at your Merzouga accommodation. You’ll then embark on a journey towards the Algerian border, exploring villages like Hassi Labied, Merdani, Khamlia, and M’fis nestled amidst the Erg Chebbi dunes. En route to Khamlia, you’ll encounter locals showcasing their desert homes and may even spot desert reptiles and mammals. In Khamlia, a village renowned for its Gnawa music, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the local people, descendants of African slaves, with traditional desert tea and captivating Gnawa music. Continuing towards the Algerian border, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the golden dunes and savor a picnic lunch under the shade of a tree. You’ll then visit nomadic families living in traditional Amazigh tents, observing their pastoral lifestyle. As you return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight stay, you’ll encounter volcanic rocks and the picturesque Yasmina Lake, surrounded by stunning dunes, especially captivating in spring. The highlight of the day will be experiencing a night under the stars in a traditional Amazigh tent, complete with a delicious dinner and lively drum music.
Today, you’ll begin your day early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, one of the most memorable experiences in the desert. After soaking in the views, you’ll enjoy breakfast at the camp. Once you’ve packed, you can choose to return either by camel or 4×4 vehicle, leaving the dunes behind as you begin your journey toward Fes. The route takes you through Ziz Valley, where we’ll stop for a panoramic view of the stunning landscape.
Next, we’ll continue our journey and take a break for lunch in either Midelt or Zaida before proceeding to Azrou or Michlifen, where you’ll have the chance to spot the Barbary macaques in the cedar forests. We will then continue on to Fes, passing through Ifrane, a picturesque town in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains known for its alpine-style buildings and nearby ski slopes. A notable landmark here is the stone lion statue near Parc la Prairie. You’ll spend the night in Fes at a hotel or riad.
Today is dedicated to exploring the key attractions and landmarks of Fez, the world’s oldest cultural and spiritual city, founded in 790 A.D. by Moulay Idriss II. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll discover the fascinating sights of the city, including Al-Qarawiyyin University (the world’s first established university), Bou Inania Madrasa (theological schools), the Jewish Quarter (Millah), charming plazas, Andalusian neighborhoods, potter workshops, museums, traditional Souks (markets), the remarkable Tanneries, and Bab Boujloud. You will enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch in the heart of the old Medina. As Morocco’s artisan capital, Fez offers a rich cultural experience. The day includes a visit to a viewpoint for a stunning panoramic view of the entire Medina. After the tour, you will be driven back to your riad or hotel for an overnight stay in Fez.
After breakfast at your hotel or riad in Fes, we will begin our authentic journey toward the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, an open-air museum. Although not as grand as other Roman sites along the Mediterranean, Volubilis offers a relaxed opportunity to immerse yourself in an important part of Moroccan history. We will then continue through the highest peaks of the Rif Mountains, passing fertile agricultural hills, until we reach Chefchaouen. This charming city, famous for its vibrant blue-painted houses, attracts both locals and tourists, especially during the hot summer months. Upon arrival in the evening, we will take a leisurely walk through the medina, exploring its white-and-blue-washed walls and vibrant markets filled with unique local handicrafts. Chefchaouen is truly a photographer’s paradise, and it’s easy to understand why. We will spend the night in Chefchaouen.
Wake up early to capture photos of the empty streets before heading to Casablanca. After breakfast at your hotel, begin your journey to the city. In Casablanca, you can visit the stunning Hassan II Mosque, a magnificent structure built to celebrate the former king’s 60th birthday. Perched on a promontory overlooking the ocean, with a 210-meter-high minaret as the city’s main landmark, the mosque is a masterpiece of Moroccan craftsmanship, featuring hand-carved stone and wood, intricate marble flooring, gilded cedar ceilings, and beautiful zellige tilework. Multilingual tours of the interior are available outside of prayer times. Afterward, your driver will either take you to your hotel or transfer you to the airport. This marks the end of your week-long Moroccan journey.
